Calling All TCKs! Ideas needed.

I have been doing a lot of research lately about TCKs and what makes us the way we are, both the good and the bad. I’m involved with a my schools office of inter-cultural relations, and I’ve got an opportunity to work on a program to connect TCKs and meet their special needs so they, we, don’t fall through the cracks.

Besides just hanging out, educating others (as in professors and students) about us, and the rather difficult task of finding the TCKs in and of itself, I’m looking for ideas. If you knew someone was making a program directed at TCKs, what would you want? What would you not want?

    Hey Girl!

Looking forward to reading more of your blog. I think it is awesome, what you are doing. I am studying under a drama therapist right now and have a fellow dance therapist I work with. She is teaching me a lot about identity and dance. Do you have movies of your work?

As far as finding ‘us’, is there a way to target new students with a small ‘intro packet’ giving a brief description of who TCKs are and contact info? Send it out with the orientation package and/or have a booth on orientation day. That may help find some.

Definitely agree that teachers, professors and especially guidance counselors should ALL be trained on who TCKs are. The wrong response out of ignorance to a TCK at the wrong time could really have long-lasting effects.

It would be nice to review where students are coming from and what country issued their passport, but i think that would be crossing into Privacy Information Act non-compliance.
